He said, “I sent her thirty-two red roses with a card that read, ‘The only thing more exciting than the prospect of you doing the show is that I finally have an excuse to send you flowers.'” He expressed his joy, saying, “There were nights when I would be at a party, engaged in a flirtatious exchange with an attractive woman, and I would cut the conversation short just to rush home and see if a new fax had arrived.”
